On the morning of June 17, 2025, a high-level delegation led by the Hon. Franklyn Derek Wasi, Minister of Agriculture of the Solomon Islands, visited SCY Winery for a focused technical exchange on fruit wine brewing and fruit deep-processing technologies.
This visit formed a key part of an international agricultural training program organized by the Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences, aiming to deepen bilateral cooperation in tropical agricultural processing.

Exploring Fruit Wine Craftsmanship and Unlocking the Value of Tropical Fruits
During a roundtable session, Mr. Qiwei Ou, Vice President of SCY Winery, introduced the company’s core technologies in brewing with Lingnan fruits such as lychee and green plum, its comprehensive quality control systems, and experience in developing a diverse product portfolio.
Minister Wasi highly praised the company's expertise in fruit processing and expressed particular interest in the potential applications of coconut resource utilization. The two sides engaged in in-depth discussions on tropical fruit preservation, value chain development, and market expansion strategies.
Officials from key departments of the Solomon Islands Ministry of Agriculture—including Research, Biosecurity, and Extension Services—also shared insights based on their domestic agricultural conditions. They held practical exchanges with the winery team on topics like enhancing coconut value-added processing and extending the agricultural industry chain.

On-Site Tour of Modernized Production Facilities Showcasing Technological Innovation
The delegation toured the winery’s automated fruit wine brewing workshop, aseptic filling line, and state-of-the-art R&D laboratory.
Delegates were particularly impressed by the integration of advanced equipment, rigorous quality management, and the fusion of traditional brewing techniques with modern technology. They showed strong interest in turnkey processing solutions that could be adapted to tropical fruits such as coconuts.

Deepening Cooperation and Envisioning Future Development
At the conclusion of the visit, Minister Wasi remarked that the visit had been highly fruitful. He noted that SCY’s proven experience in fruit deep processing could serve as a valuable reference for the Solomon Islands as it seeks to develop its coconut industry and upgrade its agricultural value chains.
He expressed hope for further collaboration in areas such as technology transfer, talent training, and joint projects.
Mr. Qiwei Ou also stated that SCY is eager to use this exchange as a springboard for deeper cooperation, sharing China’s practical experience to help unlock the full potential of the Solomon Islands’ tropical agricultural resources.
